Taylor Swift Moves Up on All-Time Sales List
Written by WorldOneFm on May 22, 2025
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is one of the best-selling artists of her generation, but she is quickly becoming one of the best-selling artists of all time, regardless of era or genre. This week, she moved up on the list.
ChartMasters.org uses a very thorough and comprehensive formula which includes physical sales, digital sales, and streams to rank the best-selling artists of all time.
“Here you will find our up-to-date list of all-time best-selling artists,” Chart Masters says at the top of its rankings. “This top is evaluating and comparing artists’ success across all formats, which are weighted on par thanks to our CSPC concept. The top is updated daily.”
On Monday, Taylor Swift officially moved up on that list, surpassing Pink Floyd to become the seventh best-selling artist of all time. Now, Swift sits behind only six legendary artists – The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Queen, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and The Beatles. Taylor Swift is the youngest artist in the top 40.
Given that most music is consumed on streaming services these days, Taylor’s numbers are propped up heavily by her streaming numbers, boasting 134,926,000 global streams as of Monday’s update, pushing her to 240,378,000 in estimated album sales, ahead of Pink Floyd’s 240,347,000.
Needless to say, this is some historic news and it sparked a lot of reactions from fans.
“oh she’ll be in that top 5 in no time,” one fan wrote in a comment on Reddit.
“I can genuinely see a path to 2nd place with another repeak in a couple years. After 2023 we can never count her off in terms of come backs,” someone else added.
“It was only 11 months ago she entered the top 10,” another fan pointed out. “If she continues to sell at the same rate she will be 5th in another 11 months.”
“And she’s only 35!! I can see her becoming the best-selling artist in history in the future!” someone else added.
“She’s the only person on that list that I’d consider to still be in their prime (or, ya know, in some cases, alive) and fully capable of moving up multiple spots,” another fan wrote.
Swift is just 12 million sales behind Madonna, who is currently the best-selling female artist of all time and No. 5 on the list. Given Swift’s current popularity, it’s very likely she will surpass Madonna in the near future.
However, which is currently occupied by The Beatles, might be out of reach for the pop sensation. The Beatles currently have 520,690,000 estimated sales, which is more than double Swift’s total, and that number keeps growing as The Beatles remain one of the most popular bands on the planet.
