Joan Jett cancels tour dates after recent surgery

Written by on August 6, 2026

Joan Jett has scrapped multiple upcoming tour dates as she recovers from recent surgery.

The rock legend has been forced to cancel multiple U.S. shows after undergoing surgery for a fractured vertebra.

Announcing the news, Jett’s team shared a statement on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, explaining that she will take time off to “begin the necessary healing process”.

“Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedics surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process,” they wrote.

The statement went on to reveal that, on the advice of her doctors, the I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll hitmaker, 67, has cancelled her September shows in Costa Mesa, California, on 5 September, and Louisville, Kentucky, on 24 September.

“While Joan hates to disappoint fans, she will be taking this time to focus on physical therapy and healing,” the statement continued. “She’s looking forward to delivering tremendous concerts for many years to come.”

The announcement comes shortly after Joan Jett & the Blackhearts completed their first UK headline tour in 16 years, with performances in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Wolverhampton and London throughout July.

It also follows the last-minute cancellation of Jett’s appearance at The Retro C Trop Music Festival in Tilloloy, northern France, in June after a tornado hit the area.

Despite postponing her upcoming live performances, the rock star is still set to celebrate the 45th anniversary of I Love Rock ‘N Roll on 28 August with an expanded edition available on CD and vinyl.
