Barry Manilow taking ‘quick break’ from touring amid health issues

Barry Manilow has promised fans he will be “singing like a bird” after he takes a “quick break” from touring.
Last week, the Copacabana singer announced he was cancelling two shows at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
Returning to Instagram on Tuesday, Manilow shared that he needed to take some time off from performing.
“Hi everybody – Barry here. And I want you to be the first to know that we’re going to take a quick break,” he began. “We just finished a fantastic summer tour. 29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard.”
Manilow went on to emphasise that he will be back onstage as soon as possible.
“Now we all need to sit down and shut up,” the 83-year-old added. “So, we’re going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th. When I’ll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then.”
Manilow will confirm new concert dates soon.
Representatives for the Mandy hitmaker have not yet commented on the news.
Manilow has been open about his health struggles in recent years.
Last December, the music legend revealed he had stage 1 lung cancer and had to undergo surgery, and in March, the Can’t Smile Without You star announced that he was cancer-free.
“This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks,” he told People. “And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought.”
