Cardi B believes she ‘beat the odds’ balancing career with motherhood

Cardi B has told how she ‘beat the odds’ when it comes to balancing career with motherhood.

The rapper is mum to four children, Kulture, 8, Wave, 4, Blossom, 23 months, and a 9-month-old boy.

The Grammy Award-winning artist has spoken out about how she wanted to prove to the world that it was possible to have a high-powered career and be a mom.

“I feel like I, I’m not going to say like set an example,” Cardi said in an interview with Vogue. “But it’s like I showed a lot of women that it’s like you could still work hard and you could still be able to beat the odds with having a baby, and the media, and the criticising, and work hard and get your job done.”

She continued, “I try my best to have my kids around me as much as possible, but sometimes I can’t be with them. Mothers have to make sacrifices. It’s sad, but we need to look at the bigger picture. I hope that my kids look at what I do and understand, ‘Mom was working her ass off.’ She wasn’t clubbing, she wasn’t dating, she wasn’t partying…Instead, she was making sacrifices for a better living, you know what I’m saying?”

The 33-year-old won Best Rap Album at the Grammys for her album Invasion of Privacy in 2019, making her the first solo female rapper to win the category.
