Michael Douglas Recalls Terrifying Encounter With Cult Members Who Threatened to Kill Him

Michael Douglas has opened up about a frightening encounter with an alleged cult that left him fearing for his life after he was invited to dinner.

During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Wednesday, the 82-year-old actor recounted the disturbing incident while promoting his new memoir, One Helluva Ride.

Douglas explained that he had been invited to dinner with a woman when the evening took a sinister turn. According to the Hollywood star, the people he was dining with revealed that they had been trying to contact him and eventually delivered a chilling threat.

“They invited me for dinner, and then they said, ‘Well, with a lady friend,’ they said… ‘We’ve been trying to reach you,’” he recalled.

The actor said the conversation became increasingly alarming as the meal progressed, with the group making it clear that they wanted him to join their organisation.

“We got to dessert, and they said, ‘We’ve been trying to reach you, and you just don’t get it. You don’t get it. So, you’re going to have to be eliminated,’” Douglas recounted.

He claimed the individuals insisted that he had to become part of their group, and the situation quickly escalated as he realised the potential danger he was facing.

“They were going to whack me,” the Wall Street star said.

Douglas also recalled how the woman accompanying him became overwhelmed with fear as the encounter unfolded.

“My girlfriend just started falling apart, peeing in her pants and all that,” he revealed.

Convinced that they were both in serious danger, Douglas said he believed they were about to be killed. However, in a surprising turn of events, the group eventually allowed them to leave.

“Then I said, ‘I’m going to leave now,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, you better,’” he recalled.

Elsewhere in the podcast interview, Douglas shared a much lighter story involving his longtime friend and fellow actor Danny DeVito, recalling an incident in which DeVito allegedly swallowed several marijuana joints to avoid being caught with them by police.

The pair had been heading to a concert when Douglas was pulled over for making an illegal left-hand turn.

Describing what happened after he stepped out of the car to speak with the police officer, Douglas recalled returning to find DeVito sitting in the back seat.

“I remember when I got back into the car — Danny was with me — and we had, you know, a few joints, and Danny was in the back seat,” he explained.

When Douglas asked where the marijuana had gone, DeVito reportedly responded with a smile, leaving his friend stunned by what he saw.

“And I just looked at him, and said, ‘Where’s the grass?’ And Danny smiled. All his mouth was entirely… green… he swallowed all of them!” Douglas said.
