Chris Brown arrested over alleged nightclub attack

Chris Brown has been arrested after allegedly attacking a music producer with a bottle.
The R&B star was arrested in Manchester, England, on Thursday morning, two years after allegedly assaulting music producer Abe Diaw in a London nightclub.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police detained Brown at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
A spokesperson for the Met told multiple news outlets, “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 2am on Thursday, May 15 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.”
“He has been taken into custody where he remains,” they continued. “The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
It is alleged that Brown, 36, attacked Diaw at Tape nightclub located in London’s Mayfair district.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, the music producer claimed that Brown hit him over the head with a bottle and then punched and kicked him as he lay on the ground.
“He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well,” Diaw said, before claiming that he was later taken to a hospital and required crutches to walk.
Diaw has launched a civil claim against Brown, seeking $16 million (£12 million) in damages for injuries and losses sustained as a result of the alleged attack.
The arrest occurred while the musician was in the U.K. as part of his ongoing world tour, titled Breezy Bowl XX.
He is scheduled to perform in Manchester on Thursday and Friday night.
