Kim Kardashian’s recent diagnosis of esophagitis, an inflammation of the esophagus, has raised concerns among her family and friends.
In a trailer for Season 8 of The Kardashians, the 45-year-old reality star reveals her diagnosis and is later seen undergoing a medical examination in a hospital.
The diagnosis was especially emotional for her family because Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian, died from esophageal cancer in 2003 at age 59. Esophagitis, however, is a different condition and does not mean someone has cancer.
Kris Jenner became emotional while discussing her daughter’s diagnosis in the trailer.
According to the Mayo Clinic, esophagitis can cause painful or difficult swallowing and chest pain. It can have several causes, including acid reflux, infections, allergies and certain medications. Treatment depends on the cause and severity.
