Shakira Breaks Amazon Music Streaming Record With Madrid Concert

Written by on October 5, 2026

Shakira has achieved another major milestone after her October 3 concert in Madrid became Amazon Music’s most-viewed livestream by a female artist.

The performance was streamed live from Shakira Stadium, the temporary venue built at the Iberdrola Music complex for her 12-date Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour residency.

The Madrid show featured a surprise appearance by Dua Lipa, who joined Shakira onstage for an acoustic performance of “Antología,” from Shakira’s 1997 album Pies Descalzos.

Introducing Lipa, Shakira told the audience: “For me, it’s an honour and a privilege to sing this song, which means so much to me, with this woman who is so admired and loved around the world.”

Lipa later shared her excitement on social media, writing in Spanish that she felt the two performers and the audience had become one.

The residency began on September 18 and continues through October 11.

Shakira once considered retiring

The streaming milestone comes as Shakira recently revealed that she once seriously considered walking away from music.

The Grammy-winning superstar told Vogue that, a few years ago, she was ready to leave the music industry behind and live a quieter life.

“A few years ago, I was ready to just buy a farm, raise animals, and retire from music,” she said.

Looking back, however, Shakira said she now realizes she still has much more to accomplish.

“How crazy is that?” she said. “I had and have so much more to say and to do.”

Despite having spent decades in the spotlight, the Colombian singer continues to enjoy performing for her fans.

Shakira, 49, who shares two sons with former partner Gerard Piqué, said she feels especially connected to her audience when she performs.

“I don’t just do it in front of an audience. I do it surrounded by my family,” she explained.

She added that longtime fans understand both her music and her imperfections.

“They really understand me, and they also know my flaws. They don’t condemn my defects,” she said.

For Shakira, the record-breaking Madrid concert is another reminder that, despite once considering retirement, her connection with music and her fans remains stronger than ever.
