Bananarama, Jack Savoretti and the Patti Smith Quartet are among the first artists announced for Live At Chelsea 2027, a three-day music event at London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Bananarama will open the festival on June 11, joined by fellow ’80s favorites Jason Donovan and T’Pau. The performance will be particularly special for Bananarama, who are celebrating 40 years since the release of their album Wow.
Jack Savoretti will headline on June 12, while the festival will close on June 13 with a performance by the Patti Smith Quartet. The 80-year-old rock icon will perform alongside Tony Shanahan, Jackson Smith and Seb Rochford.
Additional artists, including the headliners for June 9 and 10, will be announced at a later date.
Part of the proceeds from the concerts will support the ongoing care of the Chelsea Pensioners.
The Artist/Live At Chelsea presale begins at 10 a.m. on October 7, followed by the Priority Presale on October 8 and the general sale on October 9.
Bananarama members Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward have previously reflected on the group’s enormous success during the 1980s, saying their appeal came partly from how relatable they were to fans.
Woodward said the duo did not have expensive clothes or carefully designed pop-star images when they started, allowing fans to feel that they could be like them.
She also credited their working-class roots for shaping Bananarama’s music and said the group represented an era when almost anyone could become a pop star.
Looking back at the scene, Woodward recalled artists including Boy George and Soft Cell, saying it did not matter where they came from because “everyone else seemed like us, too.”
