Miranda Lambert reveals why she ‘gets weird’ when releasing a new album

Written by on October 6, 2026

Miranda Lambert often “gets weird” when she drops a new album.

The 42-year-old singer-songwriter released her 10th studio album Crisco earlier this month, but the star admitted she wasn’t “worried” about her latest effort.

Speaking to Southern Living magazine, she said: “I always get weird when records come out, because it’s your heart on a page.

“I don’t feel worried about this one, because I never really set out to have any expectation for it except to enjoy it.

“I think that’s a good place to be.”

Miranda’s new album blends country and disco music, and it also shares the same name as a brand of all-vegetable shortening used as a solid fat substitute for butter or lard in baking and frying.

The star – who was born in Longview, Texas – told how the record is a tribute to the inspirational women in her life, including her grandmother.

She added: “My grandmother did teach me how to fry chicken with Crisco.”

Earlier this month, Miranda insisted she deserves a “ribbon” for surviving the country music industry in the 2010s.

During an appearance on the Popcast podcast, Miranda explained: “In the 2010 era, it was like there were no females at all.

“Carrie Underwood and I made it through pretty much a solid, at least, seven years of only guy artists coming out of country music. It’s like, ‘Wow, this is really off-kilter a little bit.’

On reflection, Miranda believes the 2010s were a “hard” time for female artists in the country music industry.

She said: “We should get a ribbon for surviving that. That was a hard time, honestly.”

As a result, she and Carrie share a strong bond with one another.

She added: “Carrie and I went to each other’s residencies in Vegas, and it was a really cool bonding moment. We had never seen each other. You know why? There were only two girls for so long. We weren’t playing the same shows ever.

“It was kind of crazy that just three years ago, we finally saw each other’s show for the first time.”
