Adele Recorded an Unreleased Rap for Tinie Tempah and Labrinth’s “Earthquake”

Written by on October 17, 2026

Adele recorded a rap verse for an unreleased version of “Earthquake,” the 2011 hit by British rapper Tinie Tempah and singer-producer Labrinth.

Tinie Tempah, known for hits such as “Pass Out,” has returned with his first album in nine years, The Night’s Not Dead. The rapper recently revealed that the “Hello” singer surprised him in the studio by recording a rap inspired by Nicki Minaj’s style. However, the unexpected collaboration was ultimately shelved.

Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, Tinie recalled how the moment came about.

“She was actually in the studio when I made ‘Earthquake’ with Labrinth. We were having a little muck around on the mic. At the time, she really liked Nicki Minaj and had Nicki Minaj-type raps and stuff like that,” he said.

When asked whether Adele’s version could finally be released, especially with the song approaching its 15th anniversary, Tinie remained uncertain.

“Oh my goodness, let’s see if she clears it. Let’s see,” he responded, suggesting that the decision ultimately rests with Adele.

A Three-Part Musical Journey

Rather than releasing The Night’s Not Dead as a single project, Tinie Tempah introduced the album through three installments: 9PM, 12AM and 3AM. Each chapter captures a different emotional stage of a night out.

The project also reflects growing concerns about the state of the UK’s nightlife industry. According to the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), approximately 14 businesses within Britain’s night-time economy are disappearing from operation every week.

Tinie explained that the current social climate inspired him to create a project centered on inclusion, community and the shared experience of going out.

“With times being as they are and division at an all-time high, I became more interested in creating an inclusive world that people can relate to and feel part of. The Night’s Not Dead is my way of telling the story… the power and fun of a night out,” he said.

The rapper also emphasized the importance of independent music venues, many of which have provided emerging artists with opportunities to develop their careers.

“The venues that gave so many artists, including me, a place to grow are disappearing, and this project is a celebration of those spaces and the people who keep them alive,” he added.

Tinie Tempah Supports Independent Music Venues

The album’s message extends beyond the music itself. Tinie has partnered with Music Venue Trust and Save Our Scene to raise awareness of the challenges facing independent venues across the UK.

As part of the campaign, he has performed intimate shows and smaller-scale gigs designed to reconnect fans with the grassroots venues that helped shape British music.

Tinie will also take The Night’s Not Dead on tour later this year, with the UK and European leg beginning in Stockholm on November 16. He is scheduled to perform at London’s Roundhouse on December 3.

The Night’s Not Dead is available now on all major streaming platforms.
