Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized Olivia Rodrigo after the singer publicly voiced her support for a former Cornell University student involved in a sexual assault lawsuit.
Rodrigo took to Instagram on Sunday to support the woman, identified in court documents as Jane Doe, who filed a civil lawsuit alleging that she was sexually assaulted by seven fraternity members and accusing Cornell of failing to properly respond to her claims.
During Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly slammed the 23-year-old singer for speaking out on the case.
“Olivia, you don’t know what the f**k you’re talking about. Shut up and stick to singing,” Kelly said.
She added that she preferred Rodrigo when she was “in front of a microphone singing” her songs and accused the singer of becoming involved in issues she does not understand.
Kelly also called Rodrigo a “know-nothing moron” and criticized celebrities for using their platforms to comment on cultural and political issues.
Rodrigo had written on Instagram that Jane Doe deserved answers and accountability.
“Shame on Cornell and on every institution who protects rapists and abusers over women. I stand with Jane Doe,” Rodrigo wrote.
“She deserves answers and consequences,” she added, saying the woman’s experience “matters” and that those who could have intervened should be held accountable.
