Drake Celebrates 40th Birthday with Star-Studded Bash and Surprise Backstreet Boys Performance

Written by on October 26, 2026

Drake celebrated his 40th birthday with more than 400 guests at a star-studded party held at Casa Cipriani in New York City on Friday, according to TMZ. The celebration featured a surprise performance by the Backstreet Boys, with the rapper joining the iconic group onstage to sing their 1999 hit, I Want It That Way.

Addressing the crowd, the five-time Grammy Award winner acknowledged the hard work of the influential guests in attendance and encouraged everyone to take a moment to enjoy life.

“There’s a lot of extremely important people who I resonate with in here because they work extremely hard,” Drake told the audience. “And even though it’s a Friday, I know we take time for ourselves.”

He added that the evening was not about promoting a tour, releasing an album, or showcasing music videos, but rather about celebrating life.

“Tonight isn’t about a tour, an album release, or a bunch of videos we shot,” he said. “It’s about being alive, staying alive.”

The New York celebration capped off several days of birthday festivities that began in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. Earlier in the week, he gathered with friends at the CN Tower, where he received a surprise collage featuring photographs and memorable moments from his life.

The rapper later travelled to New York aboard Air Drake, his customized Boeing 767, accompanied by his mother and members of his entourage. On Thursday evening, he was spotted dining at the SoHo restaurant Mamo ahead of the main celebration.

Adding to the birthday excitement, Drake’s latest album, Iceman, achieved platinum status on Friday, just five months after its release in May.
