We’re running out of superlatives to describe EsDeeKid. The enigmatic rapper has been making his mark on the Singles Chart over the past few weeks, and now the scouse wonder has picked up his first Top 10 hit with Century (10). Moreover, Phantom featuring Rico Ace continues its climb, moving three this week (12), while 4 Raws, which only entered the Top 40 last week, has already risen to new heights (27).
With our Official Christmas Number 1 contenders list dropping today, EsDeeKid finds his name entering the conversation following his unprecedented success.
Speaking of Christmas Number 1 contenders, WHAM!’s two-time champ Last Christmas breaks into the Top 10 for the first time this year (8). Other festive high risers this week include Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You (13) and timeless Brenda Lee favourite Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree (23).
Christmas tracks crashing the Top 40 this week also include Kelly Clarkson’s modern classic Underneath The Tree (24), Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me (28), The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York (33), Bobby Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock (34) and Shakin’ Stevens’ jovial Merry Christmas Everyone (40).
It’s a personal best for WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! from RAYE, which clinches a new Number 2 peak this week. Moreover, fellow Brit Olivia Dean’s So Easy (To Fall In Love) breaks the Top 3 for the very first time.
And it’s a hat-trick of simultaneous Top 5 singles for Olivia this week. Man I Need is also in there (4), as Sam Fender collab Rein Me In makes its Top 5 debut (5).
A fresh track in the form of Let Alone The One You Love makes its maiden chart entry for Olivia, too (21).
That means it’s a sixth non-consecutive week at Number 1 for Taylor Swift’s enduring smash The Fate of Ophelia.
Our highest new entry comes from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s emotional For Good (14), lifted from Wicked: For Good film soundtrack. Furthermore, the other motion picture hits No Good Deed (17) and As Long As You’re Mine (29) also pierce the Top 40.
Tate McRae sees NOBODY’S GIRL (16) and ANYTHING BUT LOVE (25), featured on the deluxe edition of her So Close To What album, make their Top 40 debuts.
Big kudos to Stray Kids, as Do It earns the South Korean group their third UK Top 40 single (35).
Viral hit I Run from HAVEN. featuring Kaitlin Aragon moves into the Top 40 for the very first time (37).
And, nine years on from its last appearance in the Top 40, we see the return of Zara Larsson’s Lush Life thanks to a viral dance trend taking social media by storm(39).??
