Céline Dion Honors Her Late Husband René Angélil During Emotional Return to the Stage

Céline Dion continues to keep the memory of her late husband, René Angélil, close to her heart.
The 58-year-old singer made a major return to the stage in September with a series of residency performances in France. For the opening shows, Dion dazzled in a collection of Boucheron jewelry featuring more than 500 carats of diamonds.
In a video shared on Instagram, Dion reflected on one particular piece that carried special meaning because of her late husband, who died in 2016 after 21 years of marriage.
“This is a Boucheron necklace,” Dion said while becoming emotional. “My husband always wore Boucheron perfume. It’s something that makes me feel like René is still here.”
She added that the necklace had never been worn before and was unique, just like René.
A special piece of jewelry
The necklace, known as The Address, comes from Boucheron’s 2026 Histoire de Style High Jewelry collection. It features a 10.1-carat diamond inspired by the historic Place Vendôme in Paris, where the jewelry house established one of its early boutiques.
The elaborate necklace also includes baguette, round and emerald-cut diamonds and reportedly took 1,107 hours to create.
Dion paired the necklace with additional Boucheron pieces, including the diamond-encrusted gold Fuzzy and the Leopard Cat ring, which features an 18.17-carat cushion-cut green tourmaline.
The jewelry was complemented by a custom black Dior gown with a pleated peplum skirt.
Boucheron creative director Claire Choisne said she was honored to see Dion wearing the brand’s creations, describing the collaboration as a celebration of artistic excellence and creativity.
An emotional return to live performances
Dion’s September 12 concert was particularly significant because it marked her first full concert in more than six years.
Her live career had been interrupted first by the COVID-19 pandemic and later by her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that can cause muscle rigidity, painful spasms and mobility problems.
Addressing the audience in both French and English, Dion thanked fans from around the world for their support and patience throughout her career.
“Thank you so very much for your support, your patience,” she told the crowd. “I am everything I am because you loved me.”
She then transitioned into her 1996 hit “Because You Loved Me.”
Preparing for her comeback
Dion revealed in an August interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she worked extensively to prepare for her return to the stage.
Her preparation included physical and vocal therapy, immunotherapy, medication and increased exercise.
After years away from full-length performances, her return has given fans an opportunity to see the Grammy-winning singer back on stage while also honoring the people and memories that have remained important throughout her life.
