Maren Morris Steps Back From Online Battles After Burning Out

Maren Morris says she stepped back from getting involved in “every conversation” online after becoming exhausted by constantly debating political and social issues.
The 36-year-old singer, known for speaking out on controversial topics, told Rolling Stone that trying to “win every battle” and respond to critics eventually led to burnout.
Morris has been involved in several high-profile online disputes, including a 2022 clash with Brittany Aldean, whom she called “Insurrection Barbie” after comments about transgender people.
She also responded to Tucker Carlson after he called her a “lunatic country music person” by using the phrase on T-shirts that raised money for organizations supporting transgender youth.
In 2023, Morris announced that she was moving away from country music, criticizing the industry over issues including misogyny and racism.
Although she now performs for smaller audiences in more intimate venues, Morris says she has no regrets about speaking her mind and feels more at peace with the direction of her career.
